My filmography

Rex Antonio’s journey into cinema didn’t begin with a godfather, a reality show, or a celebrity family. It began with a dream –  a boy in Thrissur who watched Bollywood films through his father’s cassette collection and studied every movement on screen.

His first stage performance was in 1992, in second standard. From school competitions to college folk-dance stages, dance became more than a passion –  it became a calling. After completing his degree, Rex made a decision that would define the next two decades of his life: he travelled daily from Thrissur to Ernakulam by train, then by bus to Fort Kochi, just to attend professional dance classes – not because it was convenient, but because he wanted it badly enough.

He entered the Malayalam film industry as a background dancer and spent nearly 20 years on film sets – watching cameras move, directors think, and choreographers create. He has danced in more than 200 films. Those years taught him something most choreographers learn from the outside: a film choreographer must understand the camera, the actor, the frame, the character, the emotion and, most importantly, the director’s vision.

In 2019, while continuing his film career, Rex founded Rex Antonio Dance & Fitness Studio in Kochi. Then, cinema finally gave him what he had been preparing for.
